The project consists of the Detail Design (DD) and Construction Supervision (CS) of 59 km of the East-West highway (E-60). E-60 runs from Azerbaijan to the Black Sea through Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia, and its development is one of the highest priorities for the country's economic development. The Governments of Japan and Georgia agreed to use a Japanese official development assistance (ODA) loan for the construction of this section based on the results of studies carried out by PADECO for the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The scope of the DD includes the preparation of highway alignment and detailed engineering designs of highway sections, bridges, interchanges, culverts, and river revetments. In addition, the consultants updated the Environmental Impact Assessment and prepared a Resettlement Action Plan and Environmental Management Plan. Since the construction work was divided into three sections, tender documents were prepared for each section. Following the DD, the CS services are currently being carried out with completion expected within the total construction period of 30 months.
