Southeast and South Asia
Client Chittagong Port Authority
Country・Area Bangladesh
Bangladesh plans to construct an Economic Zone in the Feni-Mirsarai area, about 60-80 km north of Chittagong. This project was formulated because it is important that a nearby Port/Terminal be established with adequate port facilities and can function as an intermediate Port/Terminal delivering services of Chittagong Port Authority. The specific Project objective is to increase safety of navigation, to reduce transport costs and to improve service quality from the points of production to local and foreign markets. On a larger scale, it will improve the supply chain efficiency for production, distribution and trade.

The project involves preparation of a Techno-Economic Feasibility Study of the new Mirasarai/Sitakunda Port including the detailed modelling of the hydro- and morpho-dynamics, port master plan and the design of breakwaters. PADECO executed the following tasks: (1) Initial Environmental Evaluation (IEE) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), (2) Market Study and Demand Forecast, (3) Social Impact Assessment, (4) Financial and Economic Assessment, (5) Traffic Impact Assessment and (6) Tentative Cost Estimates
