Country・Area Romania
The Regie Autonoma de Transport Bucuresti (RATB) provides bus, trolleybus, and tram services, and collectively handles over 80% of all public transport trips taken in the city. In order to assist the RATB in reaching its goal of “providing best value” in its public transport services, the EBRD and the Municipality of Bucharest initiated a study to: (i) assess RATB’s operational and financial performance in relation to industry benchmarks; (ii) identify and evaluate practical organizational and financing options for the delivery of public transport services; and (iii) draw up an implementation plan and schedule for the City’s preferred option.
