In order to promote the cultivation of human resources with skills in control engineering, the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey established the Industrial Automation Technologies (IAT) Department at Anatolian Technical High School in Izmir and Konya as the first phase of the Japan-Turkey project, “Establishment of IAT Departments in Anatolian Technical High Schools” (from 2001 to 2006). Based on the results of the project, the Turkish government decided to set up IAT Departments at 20 Anatolian Vocational High Schools as expansion schools in the different parts of the country. For the training of the IAT teachers at the expansion schools, the Teacher Training Center (TTC) was established as an attached facility of Anatolian Vocational High School in Izmir. The first training course at the center started in March 2006. The target of the project was defined as the development of a teacher training system for the at TTC aiming at the expansion of IAT in Turkey and supplying industries with skills for control engineering. To achieve this goal, the processes of planning, implementing, and evaluating the training courses and their management systems at TTC were strengthened. The implementation term of the cooperation was 3 years from August 2007.
