The government of Bangladesh has advanced the development of the inner and the outer ring roads and six radial roads as part of the mid-term development plan of the Chittagong City trunk road network system. The coastal road of the outer ring roads is planned to be developed first due to it having the second purpose of preventing damage by the storm surge from the Bay of Bengal. As part of the yen loan project, a study of feasibility and an examination of the contents and implementation of the projects were carried out for the coastal road development project. The contents of the activities performed are as follows. 1) Road design: Fix route alignment and basic design, and examine type of structures. 2) Project scope: Examination of scope of civil works, consulting services, and construction plan. 3) Implementation plan: Examination of construction schedule based on construction plan, procurement schedule for the contractor, and schedule for whole project. 4) Project cost estimation: Calculation of cost of civil works, consulting service, and the whole project.
